Hyderabad: Karimnagar has become the first district in the state to inoculate all its eligible citizens.
It is also the second district in South India to hold the record after Bangalore Urban.
The district had to vaccinate 7,92,922 people in the district. So far, 8,27,103 doses have been administered.
The second dose was also completed at a record level. The district on Tuesday completed administering the second dose to 7,94,404 people. It became the first district to exceed 100 percent vaccination coverage.
Health Minister Harish Rao congratulated Karimnagar District Officers and staff. He said Telangana is a role model for the southern states.
"In first dose coverage, Telangana has already exceeded 100 percent target. Nizamabad, Suryapet, Kamareddy, Komaram Bheem Asifabadā districts too will have 100 percent record," said Harish Rao.
The Centre had set a target of vaccinating 2.77 crore people above the age of 18 in the state. The first 2.88 crore people in the state have been vaccinated so far. Nearly 104 percent of vaccination coverage has been achieved.
