Crorepati family: Meet Andhra’s Botchas whose four members are contesting LS, assembly polls

Visakhapatnam: 'Botcha' family is contesting four seats in the Northern Andhra region on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) ticket.

One of the seats features a husband and his wife, while the other two are going to be contested by their family members. It's interesting to note that Botcha's family has had four candidates contesting the elections even before. When Botcha Satyanarayana was a member of Congress in 2009, four members of his family contested and won all four seats.

In the forthcoming elections, Satyanarayana is contesting for the fourth term from Cheepurupalli Assembly segment. Botcha’s wife Jhansi, a two-time MP, is contesting from the Visakhapatnam Parliament constituency. Previously, she represented Bobbili (from 2007-09) and Vizianagaram (from 2009-14). While his niece's husband, Badukonda Appala Naidu, is contesting from Nellimarla, and Botcha Satyanarayana’s brother, Botcha Appala Narasaiah, is contesting from Gajapathinagaram.

According to the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the total assets of Botcha Satyanarayana and his four family members (including dependents) stand at Rs 83.52 crore including their movable and immovable assets.

Of the total, Satyanaarayana’s family asset share is Rs 31.82 crore including Rs 8.88 crore movable and Rs 12.30 crore immovable in their name. Their total liabilities are Rs 4.24 crore. Botcha and his wife Jhansi have no criminal cases against them.

Botcha Satyanarayana pursued a Bachelor of Arts in MR Autonomous College, Vizianagaram, in 1982. While his wife Jhansi pursued MA in Philosophy in 2001 from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.

Satyanarayana gave a personal loan of Rs 2 crore to his wife Jhansi, Rs 7.40 lakh to his brother Appala Narasayya, Rs 23.21 lakh to his son Botcha Sandeep, and Rs 24.50 lakh to his daughter Botcha Anusha.

The senior politician and his wife own three cars. While his wife has a four-wheeler loan of Rs 16.83 lakh at HDFC Bank. Satyanarayana has gold ornaments worth Rs 20.15 lakh and his wife has Rs 2.11 crore worth of gold ornaments. Satyanarayana and his wife own Rs 11.23 crore worth of agriculture and non-agricultural lands in their name.

The total assets of Botcha’s brother Appala Narasayya and his wife is Rs 33.42 crore including Rs 8.1 crore movable assets and Rs 6.69 crore immovable assets. He has no criminal cases against him. The total liabilities of Appala Narasayya’s family is Rs 1.42 crore. Narasayya pursued a Bachelor of Engineering from Gitam College, Visakhapatnam in 1985.

When it comes to the total assets of Botcha’s niece Baddukonda Appala Naidu is Rs 18.28 crore including Rs 5.97 crore movable assets and Rs 5.26 crore worth of immovable assets. The total liabilities of Rs 40.22 lakh. Appal Naidu pursued a Bachelor of Arts from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in 1992. He has no criminal cases against him.
