Cyclone Asani: As depression intensifies, IMD predicts rains for AP
It is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm, named ‘Asani’, during the next 12 hours
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 March 2022 10:30 AM GMTAmaravati: The deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a severe depression and moved nearly 20 km northwards. It is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm, named 'Asani', during the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, many parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are likely to receive rains, thunderstorms, and lightning for the next three days.
The cyclonic storm would continue to move nearly northwards along and off the Andaman Islands towards the Myanmar coast during the next 48 hours. IMD has issued a yellow alert for the Andaman Islands for a possible cyclone and preparing for relief operations.

North Andaman Islands might witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 12 hours, while light to moderate rainfall at a few places is likely over the Nicobar Islands, it said.
