Hyderabad: During his visit to Osmania University on Wednesday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appealed to the students not to fall into the trap of political parties.
He, instead, asked the students to focus on pursuing studies and building a good career. He expressed his wish for them to become doctors, lawyers and high-ranking officials, ultimately aspiring to ‘become leaders from the university and rule the state.’
It was his second visit to the university with the senior leaders of the Congress party.
CM Revanth Reddy also fulfilled the promise of allocation of Rs 1,000 crores to the university, which he had promised in August 2025, during his first visit.
Addressing a massive gathering of students and professors, the CM said, “I arrived at the university with a heart full of admiration and to pave the way for its development.”
‘OU is Telangana sentiment’
The CM hailed Osmania University as the land that strongly voiced the demand for a separate state during the Telangana movement.
Addressing concerns about visiting the campus, he stated, “To come to Osmania University, what is needed is not courage, but affection.” He asserted he came with a heart full of affection to pave the way for the university’s development.
Honouring OU’s contribution to country’s leaders
He proudly noted OU’s history of producing great individuals like PV Narasimha Rao, Jaipal Reddy, George Reddy and Gaddar.
The CM declared his resolve to transform Osmania University to international standards, announcing a massive fund of Rs 1,000 crore for its development.
CM Revanth strongly emphasised the government’s focus on social justice, educational upliftment and reversing what he called a ‘decade of neglect’.
‘Congress govt will deliver social justice and equal opportunities’
He reminded the audience that the ‘thammullu’ (younger brothers/students) of the Telangana movement did not ask for assets or farmhouses, but only for freedom, social justice and equal opportunities.
He pledged that the current ‘People’s Government’ is delivering these ideals.
The CM accused the previous government of attempting to ‘destroy’ Osmania University for 10 years.
‘Lack of education is backwardness’
Responding to the critics of governance, he affirmed, “Yes, I studied in a government school. I did not study in Guntur. I do not know foreign languages, but I know how to read the mind of the poor person.” He stressed his administration is dedicated to the welfare and aid of the poor and helpless.
He described the lack of land as poverty, but the lack of education as backwardness. “Only education can remove backwardness,” he stated, announcing the government’s commitment to providing quality education for all.

‘No political obligations’
The Chief Minister instructed the authorities that there should be no political obligation in the selection process, whether it is for education or employment.
“No one has the right to spoil the future of children. Since Osmania University is the heart of Telangana, appointments and selections should be done transparently to shape the future of students positively,” he said.
Telangana Congress party senior leader V Hanumanth Rao, who was also a part of the meeting, said, “CM Revanth is taking decisions that resemble those of Jawaharlal Nehru. Revanth’s governance is directed towards creating wealth and ensuring justice for all.”
He urged the opposition to congratulate the government for its good work, especially its commitment to OU, which had been lacking in the previous administration.
‘Foundation laid for students for next 100 years’
Chanagani Dayakar, TPCC general secretary, said, “CM Revanth Reddy has received an honour that has eluded people for 75 years. His commitment towards OU has created a foundation for lakhs of students for the next 100 years.”
Congress leaders, affiliated with Osmania University, expressed their happiness about the promises made for the development of the university. Gandhi Bhavan witnessed celebrations as the CM has made good of the commitments he has given during his first visit to the university.
