Gunshots, drugs and a late-night police raid: What happened at Moinabad farmhouse party
Hyderabad: In a late-night crackdown, the Telangana police’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), along with Moinabad police, raided a farmhouse linked to former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy in Rangareddy district on Saturday.
The farmhouse where the raid took place had earlier come into the spotlight during the controversial BRS MLAs’ poaching case.
The operation led to the seizure of suspected cocaine and a firearm, while several attendees at the private party, including the former legislator, were detained and subjected to drug tests.
Police said the situation briefly turned tense after a Delhi-based businessman allegedly fired a round during the raid.
Surprise raid at Moinabad farmhouse
Acting on credible information about a private party being held without permission, the EAGLE team conducted a raid at the farmhouse in Moinabad around Saturday evening.
According to police, about 10 people, nine men and one woman, were present at the gathering. Those at the party included former Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy, TDP Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, and several businessmen and other prominent persons, some reportedly from New Delhi and Rajasthan.
All those present were detained for questioning as police carried out searches on the premises.
Cocaine and firearm seized
During the raid, officials recovered about two grams of suspected cocaine along with a pistol and other material from the farmhouse.
Police said the seizure was made while teams were conducting searches inside the property as part of the anti-narcotics operation.
Firing during raid
Chevella Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yogesh Gautam said that tensions escalated when police entered the farmhouse to conduct the raid.
Police said a Delhi-based real estate businessman, identified as Namit Sharma, allegedly fired a round from a gun during the commotion. The firearm used in the incident belongs to Ritesh Reddy, the younger brother of Pilot Rohith Reddy, and has a valid licence.
No injuries were reported in the firing.
Officials said some individuals initially tried to obstruct the police team, leading to a brief scuffle between security staff at the farmhouse and the officers.
Drug tests conducted on party attendees
Police conducted preliminary urine tests on those present at the party to check for drug consumption.
According to officials, five persons, Pilot Rohith Reddy, Namit Mishra, Ritesh Reddy, Kaushik Ravi and Arjun Reddy, tested positive in the initial screening.
The remaining attendees included Putta Mahesh Kumar, M Ramesh, Shravan Kumar, Vijay Krishna and Ravi.
Samples sent for further analysis
Police said all individuals have been sent for additional laboratory tests to confirm the initial results. Cases will be registered against those who test positive once the final reports are received.

BRS leaders must answer on Rohith Reddy drug party: Tandur MLA B. Manohar Reddy
Tandur MLA B. Manohar Reddy on Sunday alleged that former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy was caught consuming drugs at his farmhouse in Moinabad and that several public representatives were present at the gathering.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Manohar Reddy claimed that the party held at the farmhouse was not a small gathering but part of a larger drug mafia network. He also alleged that Rohith Reddy shares close ties with Namith Sharma, a former MLA from Delhi.
The MLA said the Telangana government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has been taking strict measures to eradicate drugs from the state.
He credited the formation of the EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) team as a key step towards building a drug-free Telangana.
Manohar Reddy accused the previous BRS government of allowing drug networks to flourish during its ten-year rule. He said BRS leaders must explain the alleged involvement of their party leaders in the drug case.
He further alleged that drugs were brought into Telangana from other states and claimed that the Moinabad incident points to a larger racket that will soon be exposed. According to him, the EAGLE team will bring out the names of those involved in the network.
The Tandur MLA said the drug mafia is working to corrupt Telangana’s youth and stressed that the network must be completely dismantled.
He added that the people of Tandur are ashamed of the alleged actions of Rohith Reddy and called for strict action against those involved.
