Hyderabad: Telangana government has decided to expand the slot booking system to 25 more Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) from Monday. The move is aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing waiting time in property registration.
Stamps and Registration Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government plans to cover all 144 SROs in the state by the end of May. The minister noted that the system, piloted in 22 SROs since May 10, has yielded positive results. "Earlier, buyers and sellers had to wait for hours under trees. To address this, we're modernizing SROs and implementing slot booking in phases," he said.
Elaborating further, Srinivas Reddy said that to manage high-demand locations where more than 48 slots are needed daily, additional sub-registrars will be appointed. For instance, two sub-registrars and extra staff have already been posted at Quthbullapur in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Similar arrangements are planned for Uppal, Maheshwaram, and Mancherial, he added.
As part of broader reforms, the government is also rebalancing workloads by merging jurisdictions of highly congested and less crowded offices. The Champapet and Saroor Nagar SROs in Ranga Reddy, Shadnagar and Farooqnagar, and Siddipet and Siddipet (Rural) have already been merged, the Minister said.
