ECI notice to CM Revanth over remarks on KCR, asks for explanation in 48 hours

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has pulled up chief minister A Revanth Reddy over his comments against former chief minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao during a public meeting. The ECI has asked Telangana Congress to respond and explain within 48 hours.

The ECI was acting on the complaint filed by M Sreenivas Reddy, general secretary, BRS, wherein it has been alleged that CM Revanth has used demeaning, personal, derogatory and vulgar language while criticising KCR during public meetings on the campaign trail, violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The ECI has asked G Niranjan, TPCC senior vice president and chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee to submit an explanation/reply to the contentions raised therein within 48 hours.

“In the event of no response from your side within the stipulated time, it will be presumed that you have nothing to say in the matter and appropriate action or decision will be taken without making any further reference to you, as per the law established for violations of Model Code of Conduct,” the ECI said.
