By Newsmeter Network Published on 5 Nov 2022 2:19 PM GMTHyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with the Ramgopalpet police apprehended Edwin Nunis, a drug kingpin, in Goa.
Edwin organises parties and supplies drugs through his agents at Curlies Shack Restaurant in north Goa.
The case began on 16 August 2022 when a drug peddler, Priteesh Narayan Borkar, was caught trying to sell drugs at Habsiguda. Twenty Ecstasy pills, five LSD blots, four grams of MDMA, a mobile phone, and cash worth Rs. 4,000 were seized from him.
Priteesh admitted that he had contacted Manzoor Ahmed (absconding), who is a resident of Goa, and together they had started procuring drugs from multiple drug suppliers, including Edwin.
"Edwin has been named as an accused in six different cases in Goa and Hyderabad. He started as a waiter in 2016 and became a drug peddler soon after," Hyderabad commissioner of police C.V Anand said.
He added that his arrest is another step towards curbing drug supply in the city.
"He had nearly 50,000 customers across the country. In addition to managing Curlies shack, he also owns several restaurants in Goa," Mr. Anand said.
The police commissioner said Hyderabad will soon be a drug-free city as many drug peddlers have stopped supplying drugs. "Messages about not supplying drugs to the city as police are taking strict action against are doing the rounds on the dark web," he added.
