`Ee Sala Cup Namdu’: Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally breaks trophy drought, wins IPL 2025
Bengaluru: ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ is not just a slogan, it’s now a reality. Royal Challengers Bengaluru has finally lifted their first-ever IPL 2025 trophy, ending an 18-year-long wait and setting off jubilant celebrations across the city.
June 3rd marked a historic night for RCB fans, as the team triumphed in a thrilling final against the Punjab Super Kings at Ahmedabad to claim the IPL 2025 title. After years of heartbreak and near misses, RCB delivered when it mattered most, sealing a six-run win that will be remembered for years to come.
The final was a nail-biter. Chasing 191, Punjab Super Kings fell just short, finishing at 184/7. Despite a late flourish by Shashank, who hammered an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls — including 6, 4, 6, 6 in the final over — the task proved too steep after two early dot balls from Hazlewood. The match ended with PBKS narrowly missing their maiden title, while RCB basked in long-awaited glory.
Kohli’s Long-Awaited Triumph
For Virat Kohli, the moment was especially emotional. A pillar of RCB since the inaugural IPL season in 2008, Kohli has poured his heart and soul into the franchise. From scoring over 8,600 runs, including eight centuries, to captaining the side through thick and thin, his journey has been nothing short of legendary.
“I never thought this day would come,” said an emotional Kohli after the match. “This means everything. I’ve given everything to this team. To finally win the IPL is an unbelievable feeling.”
🗣🗣 My heart is for Bangalore, my soul is for Bangalore...this is the team I will play for until the last day that I play the IPL.

Kohli had previously faced heartbreak in three finals — 2009, 2011, and 2016 — but the 2025 victory was the perfect redemption story.
Citywide Celebrations
As the final ball was bowled, Bengaluru burst into celebration. Streets from Indiranagar to Koramangala, MG Road to Brigade Road, came alive with chants, fireworks, flags, and fan-made trophies. "Ee Sala Cup Namde!" echoed through the air, uniting fans of all ages in a euphoric outpouring of joy.
Leaders Congratulate RCB
Even the state leadership joined in the festivities. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah shared a jubilant message on social media:
“Rrrrrrr... Ccccccc... Bbbbbbb... Congratulations to RCB on this historic win! This victory is built on Virat Kohli’s 18 years of unwavering dedication. Every RCB player played like a true champion. Ee Sala Cup Namde!”
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said: “18 years of waiting… and it was all worth it. Thank you, RCB!”
