Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav tested positive for drugs after police raided a suspected drug party at former BRS Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy’s farmhouse in Moinabad.

The raid was carried out by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) team along with Moinabad police after receiving information about a drug party at the farmhouse in Rangareddy district. Several people present at the gathering were detained and subjected to medical examinations.

Mahesh is the son of former TTD chairman and TDP Mydukur MLA Putta Sudhakar Yadav.

Six among 11 tested positive

According to Rangareddy EAGLE SP Giridhar, drug tests were conducted on 11 individuals who attended the party. Six of them, including Rohith Reddy and MP Putt Mahesh, tested positive for narcotics.

Police officials said the results were confirmed after medical screening, and further legal procedures are being initiated based on the findings.

First test negative, second test positive

Interestingly, officials revealed that the first test conducted on Saturday (March 14) showed negative results for MP Putt Mahesh. However, a second test conducted on Sunday returned a positive result.

SP Giridhar explained that such variations can occur depending on the body’s metabolism and the time gap between drug consumption and testing.

FIR registered in Moinabad

Police have registered an FIR at the Moinabad Police Station in connection with the alleged drug party. Investigators are now examining the role of those present at the farmhouse and the circumstances under which the gathering was organised.

Drugs allegedly brought from Shimla

During the investigation, police identified a man named Kaushik Ravi as the person who allegedly brought the drugs from Shimla. He has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.

Officials said they are also probing whether similar parties were organised at the farmhouse earlier.

No leniency for public representatives

SP Giridhar said strict action would be taken against anyone found consuming drugs, irrespective of their position.

“Whether it is an MP or an MLA, anyone found using drugs will face legal action,” he said.
