The girl was allegedly in a relationship with the accused Nani and knew him for a year.
The incident happened on the morning of 27 March in Angadi Chittampally village under Chengomul Police Station.
Two days before the girl's death, the girl's sister came to know about the relationship between the girl and Nani and informed her parents about the same. The parents warned the girl not to meet him. She informed Nani about this and told him that they cannot meet hereafter.
The night before the incident, the girl and Nani decided to meet at 3.30 am when everyone was asleep. When the girl met him, he forced her to have sex. The girl refused and this led to a fight between the two. During the fight, Nani pushed the girl to a tree, the girl got injured on her head and fell unconscious. Even after she was unconscious, the accused allegedly tried to rape her. When he realized that she was dead, he left her and escaped from the spot.
The night before the incident, Nani had a party with his friends. He stated that he does not have a habit of drinking alcohol but had arranged the party for his friends. However, the police said that they will conduct tests to know whether he was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
Many twists in the case
There were several twists and turns in the case before the truth unfolded on Wednesday. On 28 March, when the incident came to the limelight, it was reported that the girl had gone to attend nature's call when she was raped and murdered. Vikarabad SP, Koti Reddy said that this was the parents' version. He said, "With the mother and father giving different answers, we got a mislead in the case. Knowing about their love affair, their parents feared people judging the character of their daughter. So they told the girl had gone out at 5.30 am to attend nature's call."
The police took six people into custody and interrogated them.
On 29 March, in a major twist in the case, the police alleged the girl's mother to be one of the suspects in the case. The police had alleged that the mother was giving baseless answers and so they suspected her involvement in the case.
Finally, on 30 March, the accused Nani admitted that he had committed the crime. The accused will be produced in court on Wednesday evening.
