Hyderabad: Former MLA and ex-president of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Dharmapuri Srinivas, who is also the father of Member of Parliament from Nizamabad, Arvind Dharmapuri, has been admitted to a corporate hospital in the city on Monday as he fell seriously ill.

Informing about his hospital admission, his son Arvind had also tweeted on Monday.

According to health bulletins issued by CITI Neuro Centre, 74-year-old D Srinivas was admitted to the hospital with complaints of difficulty in breathing and altered sensorium (clouded thoughts or inability to think clearly and focus).

He had been diagnosed with septic shock with multi-organ dysfunction (MODS) and continues to be under intensive care monitoring on non-invasive ventilation and vasopresssor support to maintain the blood pressure. His condition is critically ill, informed medical director of the hospital Dr Ratna Kishore in another health bulletin issued on Tuesday afternoon.

When contacted, duty doctor at the ICU of CITI Neuro Centre Dr Devi Vinaya informed that there is not much improvement in the health condition of D Srinivas. “His health condition continues to remain more or less the same, there is not much improvement in his critical condition since yesterday. The required treatment is being administered. If there is any further change in his health status, we will update in a bulletin,” said the doctor.

D Srinivas had been elected thrice as MLA in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State Assembly and had also served as minister for higher education and intermediate education in YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s government in 2009.

He lost the elections to BJP in 2012 and to BRS Party in 2014. He was the senior-most Congress leader in Telangana and joined the BRS after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. However, it is said that he has again quit BRS and is back in Congress.
