Former Vizag Superintendent Engineer caught with disproportionate assets after retirement
Visakhapatnam: Another Superintending Engineer was caught with disproportionate assets and this time, one month after his retirement. Recently, based on credible information, ACB planned a trap and caught Senior Superintendent Engineer of Kukatpally Zonal office, Podduturi Chinna Reddy, accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh, involving processing the complainant’s bills amounting to Rs 1.40 crore.
Based on credible information regarding the acquisition of assets disproportionate to his legal sources of income by Kallepalli Srinivasa Rao, Superintending Engineer, Panchayat Raj Department, Visakhapatnam, the ACB officials of Visakhapatnam first registered a case using the Prevention of Corruption (as amended in 2018) Act, 1988 against him and initiated an investigation.
It is pertinent to note that ACB has been tracking him even after his retirement.
The alleged corrupt officer Kallepalli Srinivasa Rao, last served as Superintending Engineer, Panchayat Raj Department, Visakhapatnam.
ACB carried out searches at five locations in Visakhapatnam, Saluru and Hyderabad, including his residential premises.
During the searches, incriminating evidence, including property documents were seized.

- Five bank lockers were also identified and will be opened tomorrow.
Who is engineer Srinivasa Rao?
The accused, Kallepalli Srinivasa Rao, was appointed as an Assistant Engineer in the Panchayat Raj Department in the year 1990 and served at various places in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam Districts.
After serving in different capacities, he rose to the post of Superintending Engineer and, while working in the said capacity at Visakhapatnam, retired from service on superannuation on December 31, 2025.
“The accused will be arrested following due procedure and produced before the Special Court for trial of ACB cases, Visakhapatnam,” said ACB.
