Extreme heat wave for next 5 days in Andhra districts; temperatures around 40–45°C

Amaravati: The “real” summer is now beginning in Andhra Pradesh. For the next five days, many districts in the state will likely witness extreme heat wave. Temperatures are likely to be between 40–45°Celsius.

Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) issued a statement saying that 11 mandals across the state will experience heat wave on Tuesday. Heat waves are expected to hit two mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, four each in Anakapalli and Kakinada, and one in Parvathipuram Manyam.

IMD warns of thunderstorm in some areas

A well-marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea persists. It is very likely to intensify into a depression by Tuesday evening over the same region and subsequently into a cyclonic storm over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east-central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea on 10 May.

According to IMD, it is likely to move initially north-northwestwards till 11 May and recurve gradually and move north-northeastwards towards Bangladesh Myanmar coasts.

Under its influence, thunderstorms and isolated rains are likely to be seen at isolated places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, south coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema for the next two days.
