Festival of Democracy: 93.13% voter turnout recorded in Munugode

Polling reportedly continued after 6 pm in some of the polling stations. According to the election commission, the last EVM ballot came at 1:30 am on Friday morning.
Around 2,25,192 votes were cast in the constituency. Of whom 1,13,853 men and 1,11,338 women and one transgender cast their votes.
The voting was held at 298 polling stations. Most of the polling stations witnessed voter turnout beyond 90%. The highest voter turnout of 98.21% was recorded at Jakkalavarigudem polling station followed by Munugode polling station (98.15%) and Tupran Peta polling station (97.83%).
With the voting concluded, all eyes are now on 6 October, the day when the counting is scheduled.
The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on 8 August. He quit Congress and joined the BJP.
BJP later fielded him from the constituency. Indian National Congress fielded Palvai Sravanthi. TRS nominated Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) reposed faith in Andoju Shankara Chari.
Munugode is part of the Bhongir Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency in the Nalgonda district. The constituency has 2,41,855 voters including 1,21,720 males, 1,20,128 females, and seven transgenders.
