Hyderabad: Telangana has recorded a 71.34 % turnout which is a 2.4% decrease from 2018.

In 2018, 73.74 % of people exercised their franchise in the state.

After scrutiny, the Election Commission released the final polling percentage of the Telangana assembly polls. The turnout is slightly higher than 2014 when 69 % of people cast their ballots.

The highest polling percentage was from Munugode constituency (91.89 %) followed by Palair (90.89 %) and Alair (90.77 %). The lowest polling percentage had been at Yakutpura (39.64 %), followed by Malakpet (41.32 %) and Charminar (43.27 %).

Top 10 constituencies with the highest polling percentages

A total of 58 out of 119 constituencies had 80 % and above voting percent. Top 10 constituencies with highest polling percentage are Munugode (91.89%), Palair (90.89 %), Alair (90.77 %), Bhongir (89.91 %), Narsapur (88.10 %), Madhira (87.93 %), Narsampet (87.87 %), Dornakal (87.71 %), Thungathurthi (87.64 %) and Dubbak (87.51 %).

Within Hyderabad, among the 15 constituencies, the highest polling percentage was from Goshamahal (55.38 %) followed by Secunderabad (53.75 %) and Amberpet (52.50 %) while Chevella in Ranga Reddy district had the highest polling percentage (74.18 %).

In the 2018 elections, the three highest poll percentages were from Palair (92.1%), and Madhira (92 %) followed by Alair (91.5 %).

Top 10 constituencies with the lowest polling percentages

Coming to the lowest voter turnout, the constituencies within Hyderabad have always been a letdown. This year too, it was no exception. There are 24 constituencies where the polling percentage has been less than 60 % and except Warangal West (56.61 %), almost all of these constituencies are from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

Apart from Yakutpura (39.64 %), followed by Malakpet (41.32 %) and Charminar (43.27 %), which had the lowest polling percentage, other constituencies with very low voters’ turnout are Chandrayangutta (45.26 %), Bahadurpura (45.50%), Nampally (45.56 %), Serilingampally (48.75 %), Lal Bahadur Nagar (49.07 %), Secunderabad Cantonment (49.36 %) and Musheerabad (50.55 %).

In 2018, the lowest polling percentage was from various constituencies of urban Hyderabad, namely Malakpet (42.4 %) followed by Yakutpura (42.5 %) and Nampally (45.5%).

Polling percentage in the smallest and largest constituencies of Telangana

The smallest Assembly constituency (by area) is Charminar while the smallest Assembly constituency (by the size of the electorate) is Bhadrachalam. Charminar too had one of the lowest polling percentages at 43.27 % while Bhadrachalam witnessed 79 % polling.

The largest constituency (by area) Mulugu saw an 82.09 % polling percentage while the largest constituency (by the size of the electorate) Serilingampally had just a 48.75 % voter turnout.
