Amaravathi: With Foxconn planning to develop more manufacturing facilities across EVs, digital health and electronic components in India, Andhra Pradesh government assured to provide all facilities so that Foxconn can develop a ā€˜manufacturing cityā€™ to create more jobs in the state.

After its investments in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Taiwanese contract manufacturer of iPhones, Foxconn has indicated fresh investments in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Four days ago, Foxconn, Chairman, Young Liu, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on and discussed the companyā€™s investment plans in India.

On Monday, Minister for Education, Information Technology and Electronics, Nara Lokesh met a delegation led by Director of Foxconn Chairman's office Vi Li at his residence in Undavalli. During the meeting, Lokesh explained in detail to them the available resources in the State for setting up their units and also the steps taken during the period from 2014 to 2019 to attract investments to the State besides the IT companies that have set up their units in the State.




He informed them as to how the Kia company was invited to the State during the period which he termed as a case study.

Assuring the Foxconn delegation that a policy will be formulated to provide subsidies with the sole aim of providing employment, Nara Lokesh informed them that a novel electronic policy will soon be formulated.

It may be noted that during the tenure of Naidu between 2014-2019, several companies, including Foxconn, had set up their units in the State, providing 14,000 jobs for women.

"Since you are planning to expand your activities across India, I want you to establish, not a mere one more unit, but a mega manufacturing city in the State. We will extend all cooperation for this," Lokesh told the delegation, targetting to provide 20 lakh jobs to the youth.


"Whatever assistance you need for the establishment of a mega manufacturing city I will personally look after that and we will formulate a special plan for this," he added.

EV unit in Andhra:

Regretting that the company had faced certain difficulties in the State in the past five years, the Indian representative of Foxconn, Vi Li said that the company had a very warm relationship with Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that Foxconn has plans to expand its units in India, the company representative said that a decision will soon be taken.

"Foxconn Indian representative said that the company is ready to set up electric vehicles manufacturing unit, semiconductors, digital health and manufacturing components units in the state. Foxconn representatives agreed to invest heavily in the State and provide largescale employment to the youth," said a release by the Government.
