Gaddiannaram BJP corporator remanded in custody in kidnapping caseHyderabad: BJP corporator Baddam Prem Maheshwar Reddy was remanded by the Saroornagar police of Rachakonda on Saturday evening and taken to Cherlapally jail. The corporator was among the 10 people arrested by the police in connection to the kidnapping of 21-year-old Lanka Subramanyam.
According to the police, Baddam and another accused, Shravan (a BJP activist), had a grudge against Subramanyam's father Lanka Laxminarayana. They employed 12 others to kidnap Laxminarayana but kidnapped Subramanyam instead.
Subramanyam was reportedly thrashed by the accused.
According to the police, Laxminarayana, an ex-rowdy sheeter, was himself involved in various issues with BJP corporator Baddam Prem Maheshwar Reddy who represents the Gaddiannaram GHMC division.
The 12 accused kidnapped Subramanyam on 2 September at midnight in Vanasthalipuram. He was rescued later the same day by the police and sent to Osmania General Hospital for a medical examination.
Meanwhile, another case has been registered under various sections of the IPC in Saroornagar police station against corporator Baddam Prem Maheshwar Reddy and others for torturing one Bhuvanagiri Jayashankar for repayment of Rs. 1 lakh which he owed to one Koteswara Rao.
