Gauge who is speaking truth; check report card of political parties: KCR kicks off poll campaign

Medak: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Wednesday accused the BJP-led central government and the Congress of failing to implement pro-farmer policies. He also slammed the Congress for its proposal to roll back the Dharani portal.

Addressing a public meeting in Medak district, KCR said the BRS government has devised several pro-farmer policies including free power supply for 24 hours, interest-free loans, and crop insurance. He said that the BJP government is forcing states to install smart power meters in farmlands, which would waste Rs 25,000 crore.

KCR also targeted the Congress, saying that the party has failed to implement the promises it made after winning the Karnataka election. He said that the Congress is only providing 7 hours of power to farmers in Karnataka, while Telangana is providing uninterrupted electricity for 24 hours.

The Chief Minister also cautioned people to be wary of politicians during the election season. He said that people should "gauge who is speaking the truth and who isn't" and "revisit the past performances of all the parties".

During the meeting, KCR announced a number of development projects for the Medak district. These include a revenue division for Ramayampet, funds for road re-development, a degree college each for Ramayampet and Kowdipally, a ring road around Medak, Rs 100 crore for tourism development at Edupayala temple, and Rs 15 lakh in special funds for the development of all the 469-gram panchayats in the district.

KCR also inaugurated the BRS party office, the District Superintendent of Police's office, and the integrated district offices complex in Medak. He said that Telangana has achieved significant development in a short period of time and is now a model for other states.
