Good News for Telangana: 4 oxygen concentrators to generate 4,000 L of oxygen per minute

Hyderabad: From the first week of May, the oxygen concentrators installed at Hyderabad's Gandhi Hospital will generate 1,000 liters of oxygen from ambient air (open air) per minute. Four such plants have been approved for Telangana which means they will generate 4,000 liters of oxygen per minute.

In view of the oxygen crises in the country, the Central government has approved the installation of oxygen concentrators capable of generating oxygen from ambient air in order to meet the rising demand. Four plants have been approved for Telangana and two each will be installed at Gandhi Hospital in Warangal and Karimnagar.

Announcing the initiative, Union minister of state for Home G. Kishan Reddy who toured Gandhi and King Koti hospitals on Saturday said, "The oxygen concentrators have been flown to the state and will be assembled. They will be operational by the first week of May. Each plant is capable of producing 960 to 1,000 liters of oxygen per minute. With this, the two plants at Gandhi Hospital will generate 2,000 liters of oxygen per minute."

He further said that to meet the emergency demand for oxygen, the Central government has allocated 360 metric tonnes of oxygen from 12 steel industries to the state. The Indian Air Force transporters are being pressed in to transport the oxygen cylinders in order to save time, he added.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the Telangana government has sent two oxygen tankers in a special Air Force plane to Odisha for filling of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to meet the exigency in the state.Health Minister Eatala Rajender, chief secretary Somesh Kumar on Friday inspected the arrangements at the Begumpet Airport.

According to the Health Minister, Nine empty tankers are being sent to Odisha in two C17 fighter jets from Begumpet Airport to bring back 150 metric tons of oxygen.The tankers will return to our state by the 27th of this month by road route.These tankers will be loaded with oxygen supplies from ANGUL, ROURKELA Steel plant in Odisha. The decision taken to save three days worth of time. In addition to this, liquid oxygen tanks have been set up in 22 government hospitals.
