Hyderabad: At sharp 6 am, the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others started walking from Makthal in Mahabubnagar. After 3 days Diwali break, the yatra resumed on Thursday with enthusiasm.

Huge crowds gathered on both sides of the road to have a glimpse of Rahul Gandhi. Not just adults, but even kids and toddlers were brought to see the leader.

Many volunteers from UP, Bihar, Haryana, Kerala, and Karnataka under the aegis of Swaraj India also joined the yatra. There were 300 permanent members of the yatra, mostly Congress party volunteers, of which 40 are women.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh along with other party leaders walked 2 kilometers ahead of Rahul Gandhi. According to sources, this was done to keep pace and also create momentum.

Participation by social organizations

About 100 independent organizations and thousands of social activists and concerned citizens are planning to participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana. They expressed solidarity with the core objectives of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. These include uniting the country against hatred and divisive politics, safeguarding the Constitution, democratic rights, and secularism, and combating economic deprivation of common people and the working class.

These organizations and people are making it clear that their participation is not about political support to the Congress party but about standing up for the core values of India which are under threat.

Meanwhile, K. Sajaya, Kiran Vissa, and Zahid Qadri from the Civil Society working group for BJY engagement interacted with Rahul Gandhi at 7 am this morning.
