Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have started enforcing a ban on the bursting of fireworks and crackers in public spaces on the occasion of Diwali.
In an order issued by the City Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya, the bursting of fireworks on roads and public areas is strictly prohibited during Diwali, except between 8 pm to 10 pm.
Additionally, a complete ban is in place on the bursting of sound-emitting firecrackers, and any noise produced by crackers, drums, or other instruments during this period should not surpass permissible noise limits.
The Commissioner highlighted that individuals found violating these regulations would be subject to prosecution under the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348.
These directives are set to be effective from 6 am on November 12 to 6 am on November 15.
Public Reactions:
“The ban on firecrackers during Diwali is disheartening. Diwali celebrations won't be the same without the joy of bursting crackers with family and friends," said Ayush Mehra, a resident of My Home Avatar in Gachibowli.
“It's crucial to prioritize our environment and health over temporary festivities. This ban on firecrackers promotes a safer and more eco-friendly Diwali," expressed Environmentalist K Purushottam.
“While I understand the need to control pollution, the limited time frame for bursting crackers seems restrictive. Diwali is a special occasion, and this ban affects the traditional essence of the festival," remarked Ritesh Bansal, an Old City Businessman.
“I appreciate the authorities taking steps to ensure a quieter and cleaner celebration. The ban on certain loud firecrackers will be a relief for many, especially the elderly and animals," commented Riya Wadhwa, a student at NIFT Hyderabad.
