Happy Sankranthi: Here are dos and don’ts to keep robbers at bay as you head for native towns

Hyderabad: Sankranthi celebrations have started in Telangana. All the roads in Hyderabad lead to native towns and cities. It is the time when robbers will have a field day.

Cyberabad police have issued an advisory for the people who are heading home to celebrate the festival with family.

- If all of you have to leave your home, keep your money, gold, silver, and jewelry, in bank lockers or hide them in a secret place in your house.

- It is suggested to install a lock with a central locking system in your home. It is suggested to arrange a security alarm system with a motion sensor at your house.

- If you need to lock your house, it is better to inform the local police stations about departure and arrival information.

- If any suspicious persons are found, immediately inform the local police station or call 100.

- It is better to keep your two-wheelers in your compounds by locking them and if possible keep chains to the wheels.

- Keep trusted watchmen and security guards.

- Arrange CC Cameras on the side, exit-entry routes of the home watch the CC cameras online, and always keep your DVR in the secret place.

- Don't allow garbage, Milk Packets, or Newspapers in front of your house, some criminals commit offenses by noticing them.

- Cover locked doors with curtains, so that they are not visible to strangers as the doors are locked.

- It is advisable to keep some lights inside the house, and some outside when you go outside.

- It is advisable to inform to your trusted neighbors to look after your home in your absence.

- Don't keep the keys of almirahs, cupboards, and safe lockers in common places i.e., shoe stand, under the pillow, above the almirah, dressing table drawer.

- After Criminals enter into houses they always look for cash, valuable jewelry, gold, and silver in a short time on shelves, cupboards, and locked places as such it is advisable to keep the valuables in your secret places in your houses. It is better not to disclose about your travel programs to anybody except trusted people.

- Take all probable precautions when you are attending functions and temples by wearing gold ornaments and jewelry.

- It is advisable not to share the traveling details on social media i.e., WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc,
