Has Allu Arjun fought at India-Pak Border? Revanth Reddy on actor’s arrest

Hyderabad: Seemingly unfazed by hullaballoo over the arrest of Allu Arjun, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today said the constitution applies to everyone and the law is the same for all.

“Allu Arjun is a film actor. Has he fought or won any wars between India and Pakistan? He made a movie, made money, and went home,” Revanth Reddy said in response to queries about the arrest of the actor in connection with the Pushpa 2 premiere stampede case at Sandhya theatre.

Revanth Reddy was participating in an interaction organized by a vernacular media in New Delhi.

Admitting that his government had approved the benefit show for the Pushpa-2 The Rule movie, Revanth Reddy asserted that the "actor arrived at the theatre and waved at the people," causing a stampede.

A 35-year-old woman died and her eight-year-old son was hospitalized on December 4 during a stampede-like situation at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad when thousands of fans jostled to have a glimpse of the actor at the premiere of the blockbuster 'Pushpa 2: The Rule, the chief minister said.

"Nobody is talking about the woman who died or about her son who is in a coma. He won't have a mother when he wakes up from a coma," he added.

A police case had been filed against Allu Arjun and the theater's management. He emphasized that "our government was concerned about the 'crime,' regardless of whether a political actor or a movie star was involved."

“If Allu Arjun had just left the theater after watching the film, everything would have been under control. However, after the actor waved at the crowd and fans from the top of his car, everything became out of control,” he said and added that for this reason, Allu Arjun was not charged as accused 1 in the case but rather as accused 11.

In response to accusations from the Opposition that Allu Arjun was booked merely for forgetting Revanth Reddy's name at the Pushpa 2 success meet, the Chief Minister defended the actor by claiming that he had known him for a long time.

The actor's father-in-law, Chandrashekhar Reddy, is a Congress leader and a relative of mine. "His uncle, actor Chiranjeevi, is also a Congress leader," Revanth Reddy stated, emphasizing that the police had just carried out their duty in this case.

When asked who his favorite actor was, the Chief Minister said that it was the late Tollywood star Ghattamaneni Krishna.

Taking a jab at Allu Arjun's supporters, Revanth Reddy said, "I am now a political star and there should be fans for me," threatening to put people in jail if protests were held without permission in support of the actor.
