HC: Why is govt mum on Revanth’s RTI on Rs 7,380 cr ORR TOT tender?

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Single Bench of Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy on Friday asked the state government to give reasons for not providing information that was sought through an RTI query filed by MP and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy.

The bench was hearing a writ petition filed by Revanth Reddy, seeking a direction to the Telangana state government to furnish information pertaining to the toll-operate-transfer (TOT) model of Nehru Outer Ring Road, awarded to INB Infrastructure Developers Limited at a cost of Rs 7,380 crores for a period of 30 years.

Justice Vijaysen Reddy said that the information sought by him should have been furnished as he is a Member of Parliament and when the information sought by him is not furnished he will speak on this issue in the Parliament.

Advocate General Banda Shivananda Prasad replied that information would be provided as per certain parameters in the RTI Act. He sought two weeks to file a detailed counter affidavit.

T Rajnikanth Reddy, counsel for the petitioner informed the court that the petitioner has even approached the Telangana Information Commission (TIC) seeking information. “The Telangana Information Commission is defunct it doesn’t have a chief information commissioner and information commissioners. Hence, the petitioner was forced to approach the officers concerned to get the information,” Rajinikanth told the court.

The court adjourned the case for two weeks.
