Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing into the writ petition filed by Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh's wife Usha Bai challenging his detention under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act.

A High Court Division Bench comprising Justice A. Abhishek Reddy and Justice Juvvadi Sridevi heard the plea, and it once again ordered the Telangana government to give reasons for invoking the PD Act against Raja Singh.

Additional advocate general informed the Bench that due to some technical issues they were not able to file the counter and requested the Bench to give some more time to file the counter.

The Division Bench expressed its anger as the state government has not yet filed a counter in the case registered against Raja Singh. Earlier, the court had directed the state to file a counter by 20 October.

Further, the court has warned that an order will be issued if the counter is not filed in the next hearing.

The Hyderabad police had invoked the PD Act against Raja Singh and lodged him at Cherlapally jail after the legislator's remarks against Prophet Muhammad in a "stand-up comedy" video.
