HCA controversy: Rs 1 crore paid for undelivered 8,340 cricket balls
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao and four others, who were arrested on July 10 over multiple irregularities, have allegedly paid over Rs 1 crore to procure cricket balls that were never delivered.
Paid for 8,340 balls, received none
According to the Telangana CIDās remand report, the HCA paid Rs 1.03 crore to Indiana Sports for 8,340 cricket balls, but not a single ball was received or distributed as per records. The CID termed it a clear case of misappropriation of funds.
Forgery and cheating case registered
Along with Jagan Mohan Rao, HCA treasurer C Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante and two others were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday. They face charges under IPC sections for forgery, cheating, misappropriation and criminal breach of trust based on a complaint by Dharam Guruva Reddy, general secretary of Telangana Cricket Association.
Rs 56.84 lakh clothing scam exposed
The investigation also revealed that the accused paid Rs 56.84 lakh for clothing and dress materials without following tender procedures under the Telangana Public Procurement (Transparency) Act 2017 and HCA by-laws. No material was received, indicating further misappropriation.
Forged documents to become president
The CID said Jagan Mohan Rao, with Rajendra Yadav and his wife G Kavitha, forged documents of Sri Chakra Cricket Clubāpresented as Gowlipura Cricket Clubāby faking the signatures of its president C Krishna Yadav. These forged documents allegedly helped Rao secure the HCA president post.
