Heatwave to continue in coastal Andhra; NTR sizzles at 42.6°C

Parts of Godavari, North Andhra Pradesh, and Krishna districts can touch temperatures up to 44 °C

Visakhapatnam: Heatwave conditions are likely to continue in coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next 4-5 days.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that heat wave conditions are very likely to continue in isolated pockets over north coastal Andhra Pradesh on April 15 and April 16.

IMD said Nandigama town in the NTR district recorded the highest temperature of 42.6°C, followed by Tuni in Kakinada, recording 42.4 °C, 41.4 °C in Visakhapatnam, 41.2 °C at Nandyal.

Gannavaram, Kurnool, Amaravati, Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore, Ongole and Tirupati recorded 40 °C- 41 °C. The IMD has issued a statement saying that the maximum temperatures are to be above normal by 3-5°C over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next 4-5 days.

Most parts of Srikakulam, Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Kakinada, East Godavari, Amalapuram and a few other districts in the state are likely to witness heatwave conditions for the next two days.

According to the weathermen, the heatwave is expected to be very high in many areas of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Parts of Godavari, North Andhra Pradesh, and Krishna districts can touch temperatures up to 44 °C.

Isolated rains

The IMD predicts light to moderate isolated rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during the next five days.
