Visakhapatnam: Drenched in heavy rain, thousands of people attended the 'Visakha Garjana' rally held in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The rally, organised by the Joint Action Committee (JAC), was in support of decentralisation and covered a distance of 3.5 km from the Ambedkar statue at the LIC building to the YSR statue near Park Hotel on Beach Road.
Before beginning the rally, tribal folk artists from north Andhra (Vizag, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram) performed, reflecting the cultural heritage of the region.
Even as the rally began, there was a heavy downpour and the people got drenched in the rain. Minister Gudivada Amarnath along with other MLAs and members of JAC took part in the rally, supporting the state's three capital policy.
Flexy banners turned into umbrellas
Flexy banners of Visakha Garjana turned into umbrellas for many medical and engineering students who came from different colleges. The students removed the banners and used them to shield themselves from the rain. While a few carried umbrellas with the YSRCP logo, students who took part in the rally were drenched in the heavy rain.
