Hot days & cold nights: Hyderabad among India’s hottest cities in February

Hyderabad: This February, Hyderabad is one of India’s hottest cities. The reason for such extreme temperatures during the day and night is because February is one of the driest months, especially in terms of humidity. Humidity in Telangana during this month is 20-40% on average.

In February, the sun moves closer to the equator which means that the duration of the days keeps increasing. The sun moving closer to the equator also lead to hot days while the nights are cold as the transition to summer is to begin soon. As humidity starts to increase, the difference between the day and night temperatures starts to decrease. But since humidity is low in Hyderabad during February, days are hot and nights are cold.

"Mixed weather in the city is troubling people as it is quite hot in the day and cold at night. Such weather conditions of Hyderabad Is a sign that harsh summers are ahead this year," said Balaji, popular as Telangana Weatherman on Twitter.

According to another weather expert Rajani, "There is a drop in temperature during the nights over the south and Central Telangana, temperatures at night time can go down to 14-15 °C"

On 16 February, Hyderabad recorded a temperature of 32°C. The maximum day temperatures will hover at 33°C, while the minimum temperature is predicted to be 17°C.

For a week now, residents of Hyderabad have been facing intense heat as the temperatures have risen sharply. From 8 a.m., the weather starts getting hotter and by 10 a.m., citizens are feeling intense heat. Stepping out after 10 a.m. is a courageous decision indeed. Those moving on two-wheelers are experiencing hot blasts of air on their bodies.

In February, during the daytime, wearing breathable clothes such as shirts made of pure cotton, light pants, and casual shoes is necessary as it can get as hot as 33°C to 37°C. However, at night, it’s necessary to put on a coat, thin jacket, or thin knitwear as it can get quite chilly.
