Eluru Range Deputy Inspector General G. Pala Raju and District Superintendent of Police M. Ravindranath Babu interrogated the MLC at Kakinada on Monday. After he confessed to the crime, he was produced before the magistrate on Monday night.
What happened?
On May 19 evening, the deceased had liquor with his friends at Old Nava Bharat school in Sri Ram Nagar. Later, MLC picked up Subrahmanyam and took him away.
Near Janmabhoomi park area, they had food and left for MLC's residence. MLC had lent him a Rs 25000 loan for his marriage which he had not returned. "They discussed money and suggested the deceased return to work. However, there was an altercation and the MLC pushed him away. The deceased fell on an iron grill and suffered a head injury. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, he died en route", said District Superintendent of Police M. Ravindranath Babu.
Mask murder as accident
It was found that Subrahmanyam had met with an accident a couple of times in an inebriated condition. On many occasions, the MLC used to take him home. This time around, the MLC tried to mask his death as an accident.
"He took him to an isolated area near a dumping yard at Nagamalli Thota Junction and beat his body with a stick to present it as an accident. He then took him to Amrutha Hospital and told the doctors that he had met with an accident. Doctors who conducted ECG said he was brought dead '', said M. Ravindranath Babu.
The MLC then informed his family members that he got a call that Subrahmanyam had met with an accident and was going to the spot. He again called them saying he was being shifted to Amrutha Hospital. Family members smelt a rat and decided to lodge a police complaint. Sensing trouble, the MLC left the spot.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that the deceased was addicted to alcohol. That was one of the reasons for losing the job.
