Hyd techie, family returning home after celebrating childs birthday killed in accident

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad techie and five members of his family were among those killed when the bus they were travelling in met with an accident on the outskirts of Kamalapura town in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district in the early hours of Friday. The family was returning from Goa after celebrating the techie's child's birthday.

Seven people were reportedly charred to death in the accident. Among them were Arjun Kumar, the techie, his wife Sarla, and his son Viran.

The accident occurred after their bus collided with a goods vehicle traveling in the wrong direction and fell off a 50-meter bridge. This led to the leakage of the fuel tank and the bus caught fire.

Around 14 people were severely injured in the accident and are currently being treated in a hospital near Karnataka. Of the two bus drivers, one was killed in the mishap.

The private bus belongs to Orange Travels.

Twenty-six people from Arjun's family had boarded the bus at Suchitra in Hyderabad on 29 May. The family was traveling to Goa to celebrate Arjun's son's birthday. The family said the booking was made a week ago and the trip had been planned for over a month. The same bus took them to and from Goa.

According to his relatives, Arjun and his family go on a vacation every year. Most of Arjun's family and friends have not heard from the survivors and are not sure who survived and who didn't.

The Karnataka police are currently investigating the case and have not confirmed the number of deaths.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed shock and grief over the ghastly road accident that claimed lives of Hyderabad People travelling on a Bus at Kalaburagi in Karnataka state.

CM KCR condoled the death of people and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

Soon after coming to know the incident, the Chief Minister alerted the government administration and instructed them to take up rescue operations immediately. CM KCR directed the authorities to coordinate with Karnataka Government officials and provide required medical treatment to the injured persons in the accident.
