Hyderabad: Mumbai Police have arrested a Hyderabad man for posting a rape-threat against Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli's 9 month-old daughter. The Cyber cell unit of the Mumbai police on 10th November picked up IIT Hyderabad graduate Ramnagesh Alibathini from Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. According to cops, the 23-year-old accused is a resident of Sanga Reddy-a software professional and had worked for a food delivery app, earlier. However, He is currently unemployed.

Following the India-Pakistan ICC Men's T20 World Cup Cricket match, A twitter handle @criccrazygirl had posted a tweet threatening to rape Viral Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma's 9-year-old daughter. This comes after India lost to Pakistan in the T20.

Several social media users claimed that the handle was a Pakistani bot account however Delhi based Fact-check agencies like Alt-News and Boom Live found that the handle user was from Hyderabad. The thread of twitter activities revealed that the user was from the city. The same was reported, respectively.

Following media reports, The Delhi Commission for Women too suo motu cognisance. Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the commission, has issued a notice to the Delhi Police. She had sought a copy of the first information report and details about the accused persons that have been identified and arrested.

Since then, Mumbai Police have been on a hunt for the Hyderabad man which ended on Wednesday.

While Commissioner of Police –Hyderabad Anjani Kumar, Confirmed to NewsMeter that the man was arrested and taken to Mumbai. "All assistance was provided to Mumbai Police, the accused will be produced before the Mumbai police" he said.
