Hyderabad: Police have booked āSunburn' music festival organizers for selling online tickets without obtaining permission.
The case was registered at Madhapur Police Station and based on further investigation action will be initiated. The electronic dance music festival will be held in the city on New Year's eve.
Cyberabad Police also issued notices to the MD of the online ticket booking platform `Book My Showā and others for selling event tickets even before obtaining permission.
"We registered a case against the organizers of the event. Without obtaining permission, they were already selling tickets. Notices were also issued to the MD of the ticket booking platform and nodal officer," said Madhapur ADCP Narasimha Reddy.
Police asked the event organizers to apply for permission online. The police would check the organizer's previous event history, venue, and accordingly sanction permission.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the police to take action against illegal activities including liquor being made available to children below the age of 18 during New Year celebrations and also on online ticket booking platforms that sell tickets without necessary permission.
āSuch events in Hyderabad divert the youth to the wrong side. States such as Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have banned activities like hookah centers, pubs, and Sunburn parties. For now, be very strict. Donāt ignore anyone no matter how old they are or what their background is. I am giving all powers to the police to take strict action,ā CM Revanth Reddy told SPs and Collectors.
