Hyderabad DEO bans selling uniforms, shoes in school premises

The new guidelines, outlined in Rc. No.Spl/DEO/Hyd/2023, also require that any sale of books and stationery by schools must operate on a non-commercial, no-profit-no-loss basis, aligning with recent court orders.
The move is aimed at regulating school commerce.
Mandate for Non-Profit Sale of Books and Stationery
The directive also stipulates that any sale of books, notebooks, and stationery at school counters must adhere to a non-commercial, no-profit-no-loss basis, as per court orders.

Monitoring and Compliance
All Deputy Educational Officers and Deputy Inspectors of Schools in Hyderabad District are instructed to form mandal-level committees to monitor private schools regularly.
These committees are tasked with ensuring compliance with the new regulations. Should any violations be found, they are to report to the DEO for necessary action.
Urgent Implementation
The DEO has emphasized the urgency of this directive, instructing all Deputy Educational Officers and Deputy Inspectors of Schools to implement the orders immediately and submit compliance reports.
The directive has been circulated to all relevant educational authorities, including the Regional Joint Director of School Education, the Collector and District Magistrate of Hyderabad, and the Commissioner of School Education, Telangana State.
