Dallas (United States): A US vacation for a Hyderabad family ended in a tragedy when all four members died in a car crash in Dallas.

Their vehicle was hit head-on by a mini truck reportedly traveling in the wrong lane, leading to a fire that killed the entire family on the spot.

Victims identified

The deceased were identified as Venkat Bejugam, his wife Tejaswini Cholleti, and their two children, Siddarth and Mrida Bejugam. The family, originally from the Suchitra area in Secunderabad, had been living in Sutton Fields, a community near Dallas, Texas.

How the accident happened

Reports state that the family was returning to Dallas after visiting relatives in Atlanta when the accident occurred. A mini truck, allegedly speeding from the wrong direction, collided head-on with their car. The impact caused their vehicle to catch fire, leaving no chance of survival.

Forensic tests for identification

Due to the severity of the burns, US authorities have initiated forensic procedures, including dental record verification and DNA testing, to confirm the identities of the victims before releasing the remains to their kin.

Repatriation arrangements underway

Non-profit organization TEAM Aid, which assists expatriates in distress, is coordinating with the family and friends to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies to India.

ā€œThe DNA testing process is underway. Once completed, the mortal remains will be handed over to relatives for transportation to Hyderabad for final rites,ā€ a TEAM Aid representative said.

Further details are awaited as officials continue with identification, legal formalities, and arrangements for bringing the bodies back home.
