This is the first time that property tax collections have hit a record high.
Meanwhile, Commissioner R.V. Karnan has also announced a 5% rebate under the ‘Early Bird’ scheme for taxpayers who pay their dues for the 2026-27 financial year in April.
Collection breakdown
As of 8:00 PM on March 31, 2026, the total collection stood at ₹2,501.25 crore. On the final day of the financial year alone, the corporation collected ₹107.08 crore.
The total figures include contributions from the following divisions:

One-Time Settlement (OTS) impact
The One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, implemented via government order in December 2025, contributed ₹548 crore to the total collection. Under this scheme, taxpayers were eligible for a 90% discount on interest for outstanding dues. Across the three corporation areas, taxpayers availed interest waivers totaling ₹100.8 crore.
Early Bird Scheme for FY 2026-27
Commissioner R.V. Karnan stated that for the new financial year (2026-27), the state government is offering a 5% rebate to property owners who clear their full annual tax within the month of April.
"Property taxpayers under GHMC limits should utilize this 5% rebate by paying their 2026-27 taxes in advance," the Commissioner said. He noted that the discount applies only to the current year's tax and not to any arrears from previous years.
Staff Recognition
The Commissioner credited the collection figures to the work of Bill Collectors, Tax Inspectors, Assistant Municipal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Zonal Commissioners.
While these figures reflect payments received up to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, the GHMC is expected to provide the final consolidated data for the financial year on Wednesday once all transactions are processed.
