Hyderabad Rains: Body of 55-year-old woman who went missing for 3 days found in Musi river
She had gone missing on Sunday after she accidentally fell into the Nala near her house

Her body was found in decomposed state on the banks of Musi river, under the Moosarambagh bridge, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
G Lakshmi, a resident of DS Nagar in the Kavadiguda area of Secunderabad. She shifted to her daughterās house five months back. She had gone missing on Sunday after she accidentally fell into the Nala near her house. Her family members who thought she went missing lodged a missing complaint on September 3.
"She went out in the morning but she did not return. After few hours, we were searching for her all around. But we couldn't find her. We then lodged the complaint", said a family member of the deceased.
Workers engaged in the removal of garbage from the Musi River with the assistance of a JCB retrieved her body. The fact that her body was found amidst the refuse underscores the urgent need for effective waste management and environmental preservation in our communities.
This tragedy underscores the importance of community safety measures, especially around areas like water bodies, where accidents can have devastating consequences.
The community is prompting authorities and citizens alike to work towards making neighborhoods safer and more resilient especially during monsoons.
A similar incident occurred on Monday when a 5-year-old fell into an open man-hole because of the the incessant rains. The boy was washed away in the canal, and his body was later found near the Nizampet Rajiv Gruhakalpa area.
For the past two days, Hyderabad has seen severe rainfall and overflowing drains. Rainwater has swamped some colonies. Following the severe rains, the GHMC commissioner has asked residents not to leave their houses unless absolutely necessary for the next several hours, as municipal teams of over 3,000 workers are on the ground working to clean flooded areas around the city.
