Hyderabad to be developed like New York, Tokyo: CM Revanth at Davos; praises CM Naidu for developmental reforms

Davos: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy asserted that Telangana aspired to compete with the world in terms of development while maintaining cordial relations with the neighboring states.

The Chief Minister addressed the `Country Strategic Dialogueā€™ roundtable organized by the World Economic Forum in Davos.

CM Revanth shared the stage with AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Three CMs together in Davos

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana share borders and rivers. Three chief ministers discussed the development vision for their states.

CM Reddy said: ā€œVery much delighted that I am sharing dais with the CMā€™s of neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Telangana is sharing the river Krishna and Godavari water with the two neighboring states. These rivers are born in Maharashtra and flow to Telangana and then Andhra Pradesh. Hence, our priority is to achieve developmentā€.

Hyderabad to be developed like New York, Tokyo

Telangana, with Hyderabad as its capital, will compete with the world. The goal is to develop to the level of cities like New York and Tokyo. Telangana will maintain friendly relations with its neighboring states, he said.

He said the youngest state is competing with world-class cities like Tokyo and Singapore. Rather than competing with domestic states, Telangana is eyeing to achieve the China Plus One countries status in development.

Revanth Reddy praises Chandrababu Naidu

The reforms initiated by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the fields of IT and telecom and PV Narasimha Rao's liberal economic policies showed the way to compete with the world. The policies adopted by Chandrabrababu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy helped the extraordinary development of the state and Hyderabad, he said.

"Former CM YS Rajashekara Reddy and current AP CM Chandrababu Naidu helped in building an ecosystem that helped build Tech, Pharma and Education Hub in Cyberabad, and Hyderabad," said Revanth Reddy.

Telangana is a part of a USD 5 trillion economy

Telangana will also join as an action partner in the Prime Minister's goal of achieving a five trillion dollar economy. Telangana government is already moving forward with concrete plans to become a one trillion dollar economy, he said.

"The government set a goal to develop Telangana into three regions. The core urban area within ORR will promote the IT and Pharma sectors. 65 percent of the Telangana state will become an urban area once the second part of the 360 km regional ring road from ORR is completed," he said.

Urbanization strengthens economy

Urbanization is key to strengthening the economy. The government will promote cold storage, organic food products, meat, chicken, and fish exports, and also agro-allied industries in the rural areas up to the Telangana border, he said.

"Davos trip helped to understand the development of the world. At the same time, My government wants to attract investments to Telangana. Our biggest strength is Hyderabad and the youth workforce. The government adopted transparent policies. Politics will take place only during elections. Our policies are sustainable in terms of development and appeal to all of you to Invest in Telangana,ā€ the CM said.

Sameer Saran, President of the Observer Research Foundation played a moderator role in the program. The three Chief Ministers shared their views on various issues such as the India-State development perspective, welfare, technology, and job creation.
