HYDRAA's demolition drive in the GHMC limits

Hyderabad: As part of its ongoing demolition drive, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has reclaimed around 111.72 acres of land from lakes, parks and nalas by razing down as many as 262 unauthorised structures across 23 locations in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

A detailed report in this regard was reportedly submitted to the Telangana State government by HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath. As per the report, the HYDRAAā€™s enforcement teams had demolished several unauthorised structures in the Full Tank Level (FTL) or Buffer Zones of various water bodies.

The HYDRAA conducted its maiden raid on plot no 30 (Lotus Pond) in the Film Nagar Cooperative Society on June 27. The structures demolished by the HYDRAA belonged to various political leaders, businessmen and even N-Convention, owned by film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, in Tummidikunta lake in Madhapur on August 24 and recovered 4.9 acres.

As per the report, the HYDRAA demolished as many as 42 unauthorised structures near Sunnam Cheruvu, Madhapur, the highest number of demolitions, followed by 24 unauthorised structures near Pedda Cheruvu in Ameenpur, 14 unauthorised structures near Appa Cheruvu in Gaganpahad , 13 unauthorised structures near Kathwa lake in Dungidal municipality and three unauthorised structures in Manemma Galli, Ramnagar cross roads in Musheerabad constituency.

Govt assign police personnel to HYDRAA to expedite its activities

Meanwhile, the state government had taken a decision to allocate police personnel to the HYDRAA. Accordingly, as many as 15 inspectors and three reserve inspectors, along with six additional SIs have been assigned to the HYDRAA by DG (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat. This move is anticipated to fortify efforts to safeguard the city's public areas and water bodies while also quickening the ongoing demolition campaign.

Apart from the allocation of police personnel to the HYDRAA, the state government is also exploring all possibilities for the HYDRAA to establish a separate police station in Hyderabad to crack a whip on violators involved in land grabbing, encroachment of government lands and traffic-related encroachments.
