I-T conducts raids on ex-MP Ranjith Reddy, DSR Group over alleged tax evasion in Hyderabad, Bengaluru
Hyderabad: The Income Tax Department on Tuesday launched massive searches on the premises of Congress leader and former Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy, along with real estate major DSR Group, in connection with alleged tax evasion and property transaction irregularities.
Raids across Hyderabad and Bengaluru
More than 30 locations in Hyderabad and Bengaluru came under the I-T scanner from early morning hours.
Searches were carried out at DSR Group’s headquarters in Jubilee Hills and at offices and residences in Banjara Hills, SR Nagar, Suraram and other key areas.
Real estate firms under probe
The focus of the investigation has been on multiple arms of the group, including DSR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, DSR Infra Projects, DSR Constructions, DSR Prime Spaces and DSR Infra Developers.
The residences and offices of Managing Director Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy and Executive Director Devireddy Prabhakar Reddy were also searched.
Seizure of records and devices
Sources said the officials seized account books, documents and electronic devices during the operation. The materials are being examined to trace alleged unaccounted income and irregular dealings in large-scale real estate projects.
Ranjith Reddy’s links in spotlight
The I-T sleuths also raided the residence and office of Ranjith Reddy under tight security. He is believed to have financial interests and business links with DSR Prime Spaces, DSR Infra Developers and other group companies.
Political journey
Ranjith Reddy entered Parliament in 2019 from the Chevella constituency on a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ticket. Ahead of the 2024 elections, he switched to Congress but failed to retain his seat. His proximity to the DSR Group has now become the subject of scrutiny in the ongoing probe.
