IB officer Manish Ranjan serving Telangana killed in Kashmir Terror attack

Srinagar: Officer Manish Ranjan, serving in the Intelligence Bureau in Telangana, has been shot dead in the Kashmir terror attack. He is one of the 16 confirmed dead, according to a high-placed source speaking to NewsMeter.

Another officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal (26), serving in the Indian Navy, has been shot dead. The officer Vinay hails from Harayana and has been posted in Kochi. The Lieutenant was on his honeymoon and died as a young groom.

The official statement said, 16 have died, 10 are injured in a terror attack in Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, located more than 100 km south of the capital Srinagar.

The incident has pressed the panic button as many tourists happen to be in Kashmir for summer holidays. Pertinent to note that the incident happened at the time when American vice president JD Vance is in India on an official tour, and the news of a terrorist attack attracted international headlines

This is one of the deadliest attacks on tourists in the Valley. Among the dead are, two foreign nationals, from the UAE and Nepal and one young Navy officer.

They were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack carried out by Pakistan-sponsored Islamist terrorists.

Today marks one of the deadliest attacks on tourists in the Valley, just as the tourist season was about to take off. This has once again devastated the economy of the Valley and the tourism sector as a whole. It is pertinent to note that the Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to take place in the Valley in July 2025.

It is also important to note that the terror attack occurred while a high-profile visitor, the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, is in India. The attack has attracted international headlines, and all eyes are now on how India will respond.
