Amaravati: Low-pressure area (LPA) over west central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal is very likely to become well marked on Saturday and the system is expected to bring rains over Andhra Pradesh. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the LPA over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coasts on Saturday.
Director of IMD- Amaravati, Stella S said that heavy rains in some parts of the state between Friday and Sunday.
Under the influence of the LPA, parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh (CAP) on Thursday experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. People in Vizag city and surrounding areas heaved a sigh of relief from the humid and hot weather conditions with spells of moderate rain on Thursday. Rainfall at most places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), south coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema with heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Guntur and Krishna districts of SCAP,
East Godavari and West Godavari districts of NCAP on Friday. Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts. Heavy rain at isolated places over Nellore district and over Kurnool, Anantapuramu, YSR district, and Chittoor districts of Rayalaseema.
On Saturday, rainfall is likely at most places over NCAP and SCAP, and Rayalaseema. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts. There is a forecast of heavy rain at isolated places over Krishna district of SCAP, East Godavari and Yanam, West Godavari districts of NCAP, and Kurnool district of Rayalaseema.
Rainfall is likely to occur at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places over Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Revenue officials will set up control rooms in CAP after the IMD issued a heavy rainfall warning.
