On Wednesday, the swearing-in ceremony was held in Amaravati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, actors Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, and many others attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Janasena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan took oath as Minister in the Naidu cabinet.

Nara Lokesh, son of Chandrababu Naidu, also took oath as Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, J P Nadda and several other leaders and prominent personalities were present at the ceremony.

Former Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu, Ex Chief Justice of India N V Ramana and Superstars Rajnikanth and Chiranjeevi were also present

AP Governor S Abdul Nazeer administered the oath to the CM and Ministers.

Born on April 20, 1950, at Naravaripalli in the undivided Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu started a political career as a student leader at Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati forty years ago. Later, Naidu joined the Congress party and went on to become a cabinet minister.

However, he later jumped ship and joined TDP, founded by his late father-in-law and legendary actor N T Rama Rao. Naidu first became the chief minister in 1995 and went on to have another two terms as CM.

He was twice chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh. His first inning as chief minister began in 1995. He remained chief minister of United Andhra till 2004. He became chief minister for the third time after Andhra was divided into two states 10 years ago.

During the late 90s, Naidu played a key role in forming Atal Bihari Vajapyee-led NDA government. TDP supported the government from the outside.

In 2014, Naidu emerged as the first chief minister of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh and served it until 2019. In his third term as CM, he championed Amaravati to be the capital city of the southern state, but losing power left his brainchild as an unfulfilled promise.

In 2019, he suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of a much younger Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party, who also dealt a debilitating blow to the Amaravati project. In 2021, Naidu walked out of the assembly protesting comments made against his family members in the Assembly. He vowed to return to assembly only as the state Chief Minister.

There was more bad news in store for him. In 2023 he was arrested in a Skill Development Corporation Scam by the YSRCP government, the lowest point in his political career. After the pre-dawn arrest on September 9, Naidu spent nearly two months in the Rajamahendravaram Central Jail. However, he got an interim bail on October 31. On November 20, he was granted permanent bail in the case. Later he started preparing for the 2024 polls, enabling him to join the BJP-led NDA alliance along with Janasena.

The NDA won a landslide victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state, winning 164 of the 175 assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.

First Telugu CM to reach fourth term

His party TDP alone has bagged 136 seats in the Assembly polls. He will be the first Telugu chief minister to take oath for the fourth term.

In an alliance with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and BJP in the state, the trio uprooted the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP from the hot seat. The TDP-JSP-BJP alliance together has won 165 seats leaving Jagan without even an Opposition label.

Pawan kingmaker in AP

What is more astonishing is that Janasena a 10-year-old regional party, managed to win all the seats it contested. Pawan Kalyan-led party contested 21 seats and won all 21. It appears like JSP chief ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan is the kingmaker in the state, while his senior alliance party Chandrababu Naidu will be a kingmaker at the Centre.

If it was not for Pawan Kalyan, the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance would have never been stitched. “Since the beginning, he has been friends with the BJP. He played a significant role in bringing them together,” his brother and star campaigner Nagababu told NewsMeter during an interview.
