Incessant Rains: Telangana govt declares holidays on July 21 & 22

By Newsmeter Network Published on 20 July 2023 3:42 PM GMTHyderabad: In view of incessant rains, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed chief secretary Santhi Kumari to declare a two-day holiday on July 21 and 22 for government offices and educational institutions under the GHMC limits. The CM assured that emergency services including the supply of medicines and milk and other important commodities will continue uninterrupted.

Earlier in the day, education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy announced that the educational institutions will remain closed for two days after which schools immediately sent back children who came to school on Thursday morning.
According to the weathermen, there will be continuous rainfall even during the night in Hyderabad. Some places can expect rainfall as much as 120 mm. Officials advised people not to step out unless it is necessary.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall over Telangana on Thursday and Friday. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts of Telangana.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Yadadri Bhuvangiri districts of Telangana. Surface winds are likely to be Westerlies/South-Westerlies with speeds around 12-16 kmph.
