Independence Day brawl: TRS MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, son booked

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police have booked TRS Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao and his son Mynampally Rohit after a brawl broke out between BJP and ruling party workers on Independence day.

Police have registered a case under section 324, 427, 504, 148 r/w 149 of Indian Penal Code. Besides MLA and his son, Nakka Prabhakar Goud, Jagdish Goud, Prem Kumar, Ramu Yadav, Kolam Amarnath Reddy, Chenna Reddy, Upender Reddy, Kaushik Reddy, Ameenuddin, Kapil, Sabitha, Satish, Mahesh Goud, Sathosh Gupta, Sandeep Goud, and Kranthi Kiran have been named in the FIR.

A major brawl broke out between BJP and TRS party workers minutes before the National flag was to be hoisted on Independence Day in Malkajgiri. The party attacked each other with sticks and hurled stones near the Neredmet Police station. A video of the brawl has now gone viral. The tussle led to a massive traffic jam. Workers damaged cars with stones and canes. Moula Ali Corporator Sunita Ramu's car was also damaged.


Malkajgiri BJP Corporator had alleged that TRS MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao's men had attacked him with a broken beer bottle. The ward member sustained a minor injury to his leg. BJP party workers immediately staged a protest.

Based on the complaint by the Moula Ali division BJP Corporator G Sunitha Yadav, Rachakonda police registered a case. Sunitha Yadav said on August 16 she and her followers staged a protest at Vinayak Nagar in connection with the earlier brawl. Following this, police took them into preventive detention. They were brought to Neredmet police station where Mynampally and his followers attacked Sunitha Yadhav's car with stones and sticks.
