Visakhapatnam: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms during the second one-day International (ODI) between India and Australia in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The ODI marks the 17th international match at the Dr YSR ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The match is being held after four years at this venue.

Fans are keeping their fingers crossed given the weather advisory. The second ODI match tomorrow will have a first session from 1:30 pm to 5 pm and a second session from 5.45 pm to the end of the play.

All the tickets have been sold out for the match. There are also many youth who came down from the neighboring districts, and Hyderabad to watch the match. "I and my friends came from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam to watch the cricket match. My friends and I are just praying for a safe match," said Sekhar, a cricket fan who works in Hyderabad.

According to the IMD Amaravati, a trough from cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and neighborhood to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked. For the next three days, rains at isolated places, thunderstorm activity, and gust wind over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are expected for the next two days.

"There is the possibility of rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Visakhapatnam. The rains due to pre-monsoon atmospheric conditions are likely to start on Saturday. This will affect the match in Vizag," IMD Scientist of Amaravati S. Karunasagar told NewsMeter.

Weatherman said there will be mostly short bursts with a quick movement of dark clouds during summer. Chances are that it would be good cricket, or if it rains, a DLS method may come into play. A complete washout is not expected in this scenario.
