Nara Lokesh gets AP CID summons in Inner Ring Road scam, asked to report on October 4

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (AP CID) served notices to TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road scam case in New Delhi on Saturday.

The CID teams visited the residence of TDP leader Galla Jayadev, where Lokesh was residing, and gave him the notice.

The CID asked Lokesh to be present at their AP office on October 4 at 10 am in regard to the investigation.

Lokesh is currently camping in Delhi, holding discussions with legal experts to obtain relief for his father and TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu who is in judicial remand in the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison for his alleged role in the Skill Development Corporation Scam case.

Naidu was arrested on September 9, for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which resulted in a purported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.

A day before, the CID informed the AP High Court that it would follow the procedure under Section 41 of the CrPC, entailing the issuance of notices to Lokesh to join the investigation.

The CID has also filed a memo in a court here naming Lokesh as accused number 14 (A14) in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road Scam case.

The Inner Ring Road case pertains to the alleged manipulation of the master plan of Amaravati capital city, and the alignment of Inner Ring Road and the Seed Capital to allegedly offer undue enrichment to several companies during Naidu’s regime as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu, former minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana, Lingamaneni Ramesh, Lingamaneni Venkata Surya Rajasekhar of Lingamaneni group of companies, KPV Anjani Kumar of RK Housing Ltd, Nara Lokesh, Heritage Foods Pvt Ltd and others are the accused in the case.

According to the report by the CID, former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and Ponguru Narayana who were at the helm of affairs in the selection of the agencies for designs and drawings of the master plan of the Amaravati Capital City, alignment for the Inner Ring Road (IRR) and the Seed Capital intentionally and in a calculated manner, conspired to provide undue enrichment to the Narayana group institutions, Lingamaneni group of companies, Rama Krishna Housing Pvt. Ltd., Heritage Foods, etc., and at the cost of the public exchequer, and in abuse of their official position entrusted the work of making designs of IRR, capital city area and Seed Capital to the companies which worked as per their directives.
