Instant loan scam: Hyderabad police nab 3 directors of Bangalore-based call centres
By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 Jan 2021 11:45 AM GMTHyderabad: The Hyderabad cyber crime police arrested four persons on 31 January for running companies involved in online instant loans. According to the police, they were also involved in cases of harassment.
The arrested include Niranjan Umapathy, the director of Waterelephant Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. and Beadwallet Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Yeshi Gyatso, the director of Beadwallet Technologies Pvt. Ltd, and Usha B.M, the director of Waterelephant Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. All are from Bangalore. Another accused has been identified as Nyichak Dhondup.
The four had established two call centres - Waterelephant Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. and Beadwallet Technologies Pvt. Ltd - at the Hustle Hub building in Koramangala, Bangalore. They were providing online instant loans through apps like Flash Rupee, Raytheon Loan, Elephant Loan, Smile Loan, and Vulcan Loan and were harassing the debtors. The call centres had nearly 200 telecallers.
The investigation also revealed the role of two Chinese nationals - Cheen Wu, the CEO, who is absconding, and Andy Lu Wenjie, the vice-president.
