IPS officer Siddharth Kaushal resigns, triggers talk on bureaucratic pressure in AP
Amaravati: A 2012-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Siddharth Kaushal, has announced his voluntary resignation, bringing an end to his long career in Andhra Pradesh law enforcement.
In an official statement, Kaushal clarified that his decision was based purely on personal reasons, long-term goals and family preferences. He dismissed speculation suggesting that his resignation was due to harassment or external compulsion, calling such claims ābaseless and misleading.ā
Siddharth Kaushal thanks AP for memorable service
Kaushal expressed his gratitude to the people of Andhra Pradesh, describing his tenure in the State as the āmost fulfilling and enriching journeyā of his life. āThis State has always been my home, and its people will stay in my heart with deep affection and pride,ā he said.
Backdrop of pressure on IPS officers
However, sources indicate that his resignation comes amid what is being described as increasing pressure on IPS officers in the State. Reports suggest that several officers have faced posting delays, frequent transfers or suspensions in recent times, leading to unease within the police ranks.
Likely to join private sector
Sources further revealed that Kaushal is expected to transition into the private sector, with indications that he may take up a corporate role based in Delhi.
Career highlights
Kaushal has served as Superintendent of Police in Krishna and Prakasam districts. He also held the post of Inspector General (Law & Order) before his recent promotion.
